Annual President's Council Wildlife Conservation Workshops
President's Council members are invited to join Defenders of Wildlife on exclusives trip inside Yellowstone National Park and the California Desert. Members get a first-hand look at Defenders' conservation work.
19th Annual President's Council Wildlife Conservation Workshop in Yellowstone National Park
August 5-9, 2010
Far from tourists and traffic, amid the stunning scenery of the park's remote Lamar Valley – "the Serengeti of North America" – you will learn more about Defenders' programs and our work in the northern Rockies. We designed our Yellowstone Wildlife Conservation Workshop to be educational and hands-on, with a balanced agenda of briefings by conservation experts, wildlife-viewing and hiking.* Last year's wildlife highlights included sightings of wolves from several packs, grizzlies, mule deer, mountain goats, coyotes, pronghorn, bison and numerous species of birds. Each day has a similar structure, although the focus shifts to give participants a complete overview of the Yellowstone ecosystem. View the August itinerary. Register today.

In addition to the annual Wildlife Conservation Workshop in Yellowstone National Park, President's Council members are invited to participate in to two new trips:
Winter Wildlife Conservation Workshop in Yellowstone National Park
February 8-12, 2010
February is the height of the wolves' mating season, so we expect many sightings of wolves and lots of pack activity. It's also a good time to see grizzlies, elk, mountain goats, coyotes, pronghorn, bison and winter birds. The workshop will be educational and hands-on, and in addition to wildlife viewing, it will include briefings by conservation experts and snow-shoeing opportunities. The trip will culminate with a day at Chico Hot Springs Resort, where you can enjoy an afternoon in the open-air natural hot springs pool or experience Paradise Valley by horseback.
California Desert Weekend
March 26-28, 2010
Spring presents the best opportunity to experience the stark beauty and delicate plant and animal life of the Mojave Desert. This trip is designed to introduce you to some of the work of Defenders' staff in the area, as well as desert wildlife conservation and research. You will also meet officials of Joshua Tree National Park and spend a morning tracking the elusive desert tortoise. Register today.
